WELCOME TO THORN STREET, YOUR CRAFT BEER NEIGHBORHOOD BREWERY
The location at 3176 Thorn Street was, up until early 2012, a local outlet called Home Brews and Gardens. The shop was loved by local patrons but owner Dennis O’Connor realized that he liked making beer a lot more than he did selling supplies to do so. He teamed up with avid home brewers and fellow San Diego natives Dan Carrico and Eric O’Connor to start the project that would transform the former, local, home brew shop into Thorn Street Brewery.
The renovated space has been transformed into a beautiful tasting room with a 7 barrel brew house in a large, open, naturally lit, back room. Local designer, Pat Wilkening (Red Craft Custom Design), has been instrumental in the creative development of the property and has created something truly unique in the neighborhood. It is our sincere hope that our hard work will result in a place where you can truly feel cozy and welcome.
From the Neighborhood
WE LOVE THORN!
Great selection of beers that are all wonderfully crafted. Atmosphere is comfortable and cozy, I enjoy being able to bring my dog along.
This place is a hidden gem. Its on the other side of North Park and we wouldn't have been able to stroll into this place if the original place we were headed too wasn't closed. Its pretty small and hidden but the handcrafted beer makes up for it. Definitely a MUST GO to spot if you're in the area. Its cool because they do allow dogs.
You must try: Belgian Blond Ale
Everything you want out of a local watering hole and tucked back in a neighborhood. They are dog friendly and I love the upstairs patio. It's perfect for events and gathering with friends and it's never too loud that you can't have a conversation.
I love all of the beers here but there secret gem for those people who aren't a fan of beer is the home made root beer. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Food trucks are always out front but if you want some BBQ I would head right next door to Grand Ole BBQ Y Asado.
